1960s tourism video suggests Vancouver is a great place to honeymoon
“Vancouver, British Columbia: Canada’s third city, just a few miles north of the U.S. border. Yesterday: a brash settlement on the edge of nowhere. Today: one of the most beautiful cities in North America and the busiest sea port on Canada’s pacific coast. So young, her story is still being written, but old enough to have developed a personality that is all her own.”
That’s how the stereotypical voiceover announcer describes Vancouver in this 1960’s tourism video.
We found this timeless gem on Reddit. The 15 minute advertisement was shot across the entire city so viewers get a good sense of what things looked like 50 years ago.
One standout is the suggestion that fishing in the middle of the city draws people from all over the continent. You certaintly don't see much of that going on anymore.
